Hockerill Footpath - 3 Years on

It is now nearly three years since Hockerill Anglo-European College launched their bid to have this much used footpath closed.

When we, ex-Councillor Les Pinnell and Cllr. Mike Wood, launched the petition to oppose the closure in 2006, little did we think that the issue would run for such a long period of time.

We said, at our first meeting at the school, that the best way forward would be a "Gating Order". We now see that the School are applying for such an order, which will mean the entrances in Stortford Hall Park, Manor Road and Dunmow Road will be gated and locked from 10pm until 6am each day.

So the closure order which had been so vigorously opposed by most of the local community will now not be enacted - a clear victory for the local community working together!
