Sunset Waltham Cross Proposal - A hospital not houses

Freddie Jewitt, the Lib Dem spokesperson for Broxbourne says:

The 91-acre Sunset Studios site at Junction 25 sits empty after the film studios fell through. The Council says it must remain a jobs site — yet residents fear it will end up as another housing estate.

Meanwhile, for decades Broxbourne residents have had to leave the area for hospital care. The Princess Alexandra in Harlow has again been rated "requires improvement" by the CQC, its own leaders say its buildings are not fit for purpose, and the promised replacement is now 15 years away.

There is a better answer. The NHS's own site search specified 35 acres for a new hospital. Sunset offers 91 — enough for a modern hospital and a life-sciences campus creating hundreds of skilled local jobs, on land that connects directly to the M25 and A10 without touching a residential street.

We call on the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust to formally include the Sunset site in its options appraisal, and on Broxbourne Council and the NHS Central East Integrated Care Board to support a feasibility study.
